You’ll have no problems with storage using the SPC Heaven 10.1

SPC has launched its new tablet, the Heaven 10.1, which stands out for its good value for money. In this analysis of the SPC Heaven 10.1 we will tell you all the features of this device that is well positioned in the market.

A tablet with a very competitive price

The main catacteries that SPC Heaven 10.1 has are three. For starters it has a 6,000mAh battery that promises a fantastic result in terms of autonomy. We also have 64 GB of internal memory to store all the photos, videos, games and documents you want without any problem and, finally, it boasts a very competitive price.

This mid-range tablet has an official price of 149.90 euros, a very tight amount for a 10-inch tablet. In fact, this SPC model is shaping up as one of the main alternatives to the bq Aquaris M10 which has become one of the sales successes of 2016.

Throughout this analysis of the SPC Heaven 10.1 we will check whether or not we are looking at a device with a good price quality, a perfect gift for this Christmas.

Design

The SPC Heaven 10.1’s design combines the plastic on the front with the metal at the back and edges. Interesting finishes for a fairly simple tablet that is only available in white, which confirms that we are not facing one of the strengths of the device.

The tablet has a weight of 570 grams and a thickness of 9 millimetres. It is not one of the lightest devices but its weight is perfectly assumed to be with it for a while. The measurements are 250 mm high and 160 mm wide, roughly like other similar tablets with 10-inch screens.

One of the features that surprised us the most during the review of the SPC Heaven 10.1 is that the tablet does not have buttons to raise and lower the volume. These two functions must be performed from the screen: they are located at the bottom where the other commands are and for some users it can become somewhat annoying.

At the connectivity level it shines with a micro USB 2.0 port to move files and, above all, because you have a mini HDMI port, so you can connect it to your TV easily. Right next to it are the headphone jack, the input to add a Micro SD card and the charging port.

The SPC Heaven 10.1 only has 2 buttons: the first is used to turn the device off, on and lock, and the second is used as a back button. As we said before, it is quite strange and uncomfortable that the brand has decided to dispense with the buttons to control the volume, something that is especially noticeable when playing or opening applications in full screen.

The new SPC tablet has a single speaker output on the back of the device. At the other end we find the main camera of 2 megapixels. The front camera for 0.3 megapixel selfies and video calls is located at the top right of the screen.

Screen

The quality of the screen is always one of the aspects that users care about most when purchasing any device. In the review of SPC Heaven 10.1 we have been checking the color gamut, brightness and resolution of the IPS panel.

The SPC Heaven 10.1’s display features an IPS panel and HD resolution that offers a good balance and a pretty good brightness level: during our tests we haven’t had to adjust it, and the color feel is good.

The display has 10.1 inches with a resolution of 1280 by 800 pixels, so the density of the same is not very high. That’s why we can’t argue that we’re looking at one of the strengths of the device, but nevertheless, this configuration has less battery consumption with very agile performance.

The colour range is quite correct and we can say that it is totally within its range. The warmer tones seem slightly oversaturated, which in the eyes of the most demanding can detract from some naturalness, but the experience for the vast majority of the audience will be very satisfying.

Camera, sound and connectivity

The main camera of SPC Heaven 10.1 has 2 megapixels and the front 0.3, so they are two very simple and basic cameras that are intended for users who take few images or that what they really want is to make video calls, an always attractive function for a tablet.

The camera is not usually one of the decisive elements when buying a tablet, unlike smartphones, and in this sense SPC did not want to throw the house away for the sale as it would have also had to raise the sale price of the device.

The results with the rear camera are quite discreet, more or less in line with other tablets of the same price range, but we must keep in mind that we do not have an autofocus system.

For its part, the front sensor is designed fundamental to make video calls with Skype or some of the different messaging applications and social networks, although again with quite improveable results.

If we talk about audio, during the analysis of the SPC Heaven 10.1 we have been able to verify that one of the problems presented by the tablet is that the speakers are on the back, which can obstruct the output of the sound if we place it on a flat surface like a table.

In any way the overall experience is positive, also if we connect a headset to the tablet; a perfect option to – for example – enjoy our favorite series and movies.

Finally, in this section we will talk about connectivity. In addition to the connection ports mentioned above the SPC Heaven 10.1 works with Bluetooth 4.0, which will provide us with a stable connection with mobile phones or wireless speakers, but unfortunately we do not have the possibility of incorporating a data card to take advantage of its functionality with mobile networks anywhere.

Software

The SPC Heaven 10.1 tablet works with Android 6.0 Marshmallow, which is a plus with respect to quite a few models of their same price range that have not yet made the leap to this version that improves the customization possibilities and, above all, triggers optimization and efficiency for greater autonomy.

One of the aspects that will surely attract many users the most is that the tablet does not bring practically any pre-installed application from the factory. In fact, some of the ones that do come by default – like Facebook – will in all likelihood end up being installed. What we have not detected is bloatware, without a trace of advertising or malicious apps as they can sometimes be found on terminals imported from China.

So if you are one of those who enjoy downloading applications, customizing and you like to have enough space, this is a tablet that is right for you, since you can perform all these actions without having to worry about the space or the performance of the device.

Performance

As for the processor, the SPC Heaven 10.1 uses a 4-core AllWinner that reaches a speed of 1.3 GHz, and has 2 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage for files, applications and data that can be expanded by 32 GB with the addition of an external memory card.

During the review of SPC Heaven 10.1 we have downloaded several games to test the release of the processor and RAM and the truth is that they have responded quite well. With a demanding video game like the Asphalt 8 at medium quality (always with HD resolution) it works quite well and the gyroscope is quite responsive, so the experience is positive. In contrast, with superior quality the game loses fluidity and the turns become heavy.

Other simpler applications like Clash of Clans or Boom Beach don’t have any problems and you’ll be able to enjoy them perfectly. The same is true if you use any social network, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, as they work fluently, so you can talk to your friends and family as long as you want, just like browsing the internet.

The SPC Heaven 10.1 tablet doesn’t overheat while we’ve been testing it for analysis, although one of the weaknesses it has is that it takes a little while to turn on and off.

The benchmarks we have used to measure the performance of the SPC Heaven 10.1 have not given us excessively encouraging results, they are rather low in general terms, but again demonstrate that not everything can be measured with figures.
